Spilling Secrets: Scientology Defector Leah Remini Agrees To Testify In Harassment Lawsuit Against Church Leader

                                                             Radar online.

Former Church of Scientology member Leah Remini has agreed to testify in a harassment lawsuit filed against the organization and its leader David Miscaviage, RadarOnline.com is reporting.

In what could be potentially damning testimony, the King of Queens actress will give a deposition in the lawsuit filed by Monique Rathbun — wife of former church exec Marty Rathbun — in which she made shocking claims of private investigators and intimidation tactics used by the church and Miscavige’s attempt to keep control over the organization.

Rathbun’s attorney, Ray Jeffrey, first confirmed that Remini would be testifying to the Scientology watchdog website The Underground Bunker, who reports that the deposition will take place in Los Angeles on Oct. 15.

According to Jeffrey, Remini will spill secrets that Scientology and leader Miscavige have long worked hard to keep covered up — including the iron fist with which Miscavige rules the church. Jeffrey also claims Miscavige is “obsessed” with Marty, who defected from the church in 2004, despite him saying otherwise.

Just one day before Remini testifies, former Scientology spokesperson Tommy Davis will also be deposed in Texas.

Monique filed the multi-million dollar lawsuit on Aug. 16 and was also granted a temporary restraining order against Miscavige which prevents him from surveilling or harassing the Rathbuns.

“She has been subjected to numerous, aggressive attempts to intimidate her… She has been targeted at home, at work, and anywhere else that she happens to be,” the lawsuit alleges.

“She has been harassed, insulted, surveilled, photographed, videotaped, defamed, and humiliated to such a degree as to shock the conscience of any decent, law-abiding person.”

While the church has previously issued a statement saying they “could care less” about Remini and call her “self-absorbed,” the actress’ agreement to participate in a lawsuit against the Church of Scientology is sure to get their attention.

During a Dancing With The Stars segment in September, Remini said, “The church is looking for me to fail so they can say to their parishioners, ‘Look what happens when you leave.’ They’re waiting for me to fail.”

Since leaving the church Remini has taken a strong stand, going head-to-head with famous member Kirstie Alley and calling for an investigation into the whereabouts of Miscavige’s longtime NOT seen wife, Shelly — and now with her deposition, it’s clear she’s not intimidated by anything having to do with Scientology and the church.

It should be noted that the Los Angeles Police Department closed the case on Shelly the same day a missing persons report was filed by Remini stating that she was located and the investigation was “unfounded.”

“Creating this unnecessary burden for law enforcement was even more irresponsible given the entire episode was nothing more than a publicity stunt for Ms. Remini, cooked up with unemployed, anti-religious zealots who blog on the fringe of the Internet,” the church told Radar.

The Ultimate Betrayal! Leah Remini To ‘Delve Into Her Experiences’ With Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes And Other Top Scientologists In Lawsuit Deposition

Former Scientologist Leah Remini recently admitted, “The church is looking for me to fail.” But now she’s fighting back. RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that Remini will reveal the secrets of her time as a celebrity member of the Church of Scientology in an upcoming court deposition that will force her to tell the truth about the controversial organization once and for all. Could big-name Scientologists like Tom Cruise, Kirstie Alley, and John Travolta come under fire? Lead counsel for the plaintiffs, Ray Jeffrey, tells RadarOnline.com exclusively, “Who knows what may come up.”

Remini was called to deposition by attorneys for Monique Rathbun, who is suing the church and its leader, David Miscavige, for allegedly mounting a campaign of harassment against her and her ex-Scientologist husband, Marty. Remini will give her deposition on October 15, where she is rehearsing for Dancing with the Stars, and Jeffrey explains why it could be crucial to taking to Scientology once and for all.

“We are having to prepare for a hearing on October 18,” he says. “That hearing is about the leader of Scientology, David Miscavige’s claim that he shouldn’t be made to appear in Texas [because he has no dealings there] …”

EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS: Life After Scientology — Church Leader’s Niece Jenna Miscavige Hill

The Rathbuns have argued that Miscavige in fact has control of international church dealings, based on Marty’s time as a high-level Scientologist years ago. “But his attorneys have argued in court that we have very stale evidence because it goes back a number of years,” Jeffrey says.

“There are two things that we want to try to establish,” he continues. “One is that he does in fact control all aspects of the various Scientology corporations, so that this operation in Texas against our clients would not have occurred unless he was involved. We believe Ms. Remini can shed some light on the subject that in fact, he does control things, as she left the church very recently.”

Secondly, “Miscavige’s attorney has claimed in court that Mr. Miscavige is uninterested in our client,” Jeffrey says. “I believe Ms. Remini will have testimony that in fact Mr. Miscavige is very concerned about Mr. and Mrs. Rathbun.”

As for the possibility that Remini’s deposition could cover wider topics, including Cruise, Alley, and others, Jeffrey says, “I don’t want to speak for her, as to what exactly she’ll say. Who knows what may come up. Certainly it will delve into her experiences in the church.”

Remini’s departure from the church this summer has sent shockwaves through the organization’s increasingly shaky foundations.

Scientology Loses Bid To Muzzle Defector Leah Remini In Harassment Lawsuit

To the chagrin of Scientology higher-ups, former church member Leah Remini will be allowed to deliver a deposition in the case of a Texas woman of who says the church has been harassing her, and we’ve got all the details for you right here on RadarOnline.com.

As we previously reported, Monique Rathbun, the wife of former church member Marty Rathbun, called the institution a “notorious, multi-billion dollar cult” in her Aug. 16 harassment suit filed in Comal County, Texas.

In a hearing Tuesday, Rathbun’s lawyer Ray Jeffrey persuaded Judge Dib Waldrip to let the Dancing with the Stars contestant (as well as former Scientologist Tommy Davis) be deposed in the hotbed case, according to Scientology watcher Tony Ortega.

PHOTOS: Hollywood Stars Who Are Scientologists

Scientology officials, who did their best to block both depositions, said Tuesday that they have a trio of witnesses slated to answer back to Remini’s claims.

The outspoken 43-year-old actress will be deposed regarding church leader David Miscavige, and if jurisdiction over the California-based leader will apply.

In the lawsuit, Monique, who herself has never been a member of the church, accuses Miscavige and his peers of harassing her since 2009, based on her husband’s stormy departure from the church, Ortega reported. In his response, Miscavige said that he doesn’t have, nor has never had, an affiliation with the state of Texas sans a brief visit, so there’s no reason for him to be sued there.

While the King of Queens star and Davis have not been given new dates at which time they can give their depositions, the hearing over Miscavige’s jurisdiction is slated to hit court Dec. 11.

Scientology Lawyers Get Leah Remini Deposition Indefinitely Postponed: ‘They Don’t Particularly Want That Deposition Taken’

The darkest secrets of Scientology will stay hidden for now, since an explosive deposition by former Church member Leah Remini has been indefinitely postponed, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.

Remini was set to give a deposition about her time in the church on October 15, as part of the ongoing lawsuit from Monique Rathbun against the church.

But after Scientology lawyers moved to quash the deposition, as RadarOnline.com has reported, it was taken off the table — for now.

PHOTOS: Hollywood Stars Who Are Scientologists

“It was delayed by agreement to take her deposition at a later date,” attorney Marc Wiegand, counsel for the plaintiff, tells Radar. “As of right now, the date is not set in stone.”

Because of what Remini could spill, lawyers for the church, “don’t particularly want that deposition taken,” Wiegand explains. “But we’re entitled to discovery on matters that are relevant, and this is a relevant matter.”

Lead counsel for the plaintiff, Ray Jeffrey, previously told RadarOnline.com that they hoped to have her spill details on church leader David Miscavige‘s overarching control of church functions and the Rathbuns in particular. Rathbun is suing the church and Miscavige personally for harassing her and her husband, former high-ranking Scientologist Marty Rathbun.

EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS: Life After Scientology — Church Leader’s Niece Jenna Miscavige Hill

“They have a lot of lawyers involved in this case, and we have been obliged to find mutually agreeable dates to do things,” Wiegand explains. “Setting the dates for depositions has been a matter of discussion.”

For the latest updates from the Rathbun trial and Remini’s upcoming deposition, stay tuned to RadarOnline.com

PS: We were traveling all day yesterday, so we were unable to respond to a slightly misleading story about Leah Remini posted by RadarOnline that was then copied all over the place. Despite Radar’s claim for an “exclusive,” it was two weeks ago when we first reported that Remini’s deposition in Monique Rathbun’s harassment lawsuit against Scientology leader David Miscavige was postponed along with the deposition of former Scientology spokesman Tommy Davis and others.

It’s not true, as Radar implied, that Scientology’s attorneys made this happen. Actually, a hearing on jurisdictional matters was moved from October 18 to December 11, giving both sides more time to gather evidence, which included rescheduling the depositions.

And no, Leah Remini’s deposition has not been postponed “indefinitely.” In fact, new dates on all of the depositions were being worked out this week, and as soon as we know them, we’ll certainly let you know.

We can only marvel that out of all the explosive news that rocked Monique Rathbun’s lawsuit in the last week, the only thing the mainstream press got out of it was that Leah Remini’s deposition had been slightly delayed. Someone, please get them the smelling salts.

                                                                      Scio chat on The View.....

The ladies just chatted about the cult and Jenny McCarthy told how she was standing right next to Leah Remini at the Tom/Katie wedding when Leah dared ask His Greatness about his wife. She clarified that Leah said, in her brusque New Yawk accent, "where's yer wife??" She says in the room everybody went silent & looked at her. Jenny said she knew something heavy was going to happen. Very interesting.

They also played a clip from last week where Leah talked about repercussions, and "shunning", and how hard it is. "Not normal" to break up a family, etc.

Big-mouthed Barbara then said "it is such a fascinating religion" and if you look into it, how "for the people who believe in it, it does them a great deal of good evidently" and the people who don't, "leads to these kinds of discussions". "Controversial and fascinating religion that has many different levels". PLEASE STFU.

Jenny brought up the Shelly/missing persons report and how she finds it WEIRD and that the LAPD says they did speak to Shelly, etc.

Sherri (last name?) then said "when Katie escap...well since Katie left" and was promptly schooled, patted on the arm & finger shaken at by Barbara who said "now watch it!!!" Then Barbara "joked", "Sherri would you move away please, I don't want to sit next to you". Whose ass is she up??????

Saving her daughter from being audited at age 9!
While Remini insists there were dozens of influencing factors fueling her decision to exit the notoriously controlling Church, none were more persuasive than her 9-year-old daughter, Sofia.
“She was getting to the age where the acclimation into the Church would have to start,” Remini revealed of the process, which begins with auditing. It includes having children answer questions like, Have you ever pretended to be ill? Have you ever decided you didn’t like some member of your family? Have you ever been a coward?
Signing a Billion Year at age 10 while living with roaches!
“We went from a middle-class lifestyle [in Brooklyn, N.Y.] to living in a roach-infested motel with six other girls off a freeway in Clearwater,” Remini recalled of her family’s transition to the Church’s compound in Florida, before her 10th birthday. “We were separated from our mother. We had to sign billion-year contracts we didn’t understand. And we kept saying, ‘Why are you doing this to us? Why are we here?’”
