This is posted on ex sci message board...

Here is how I got my money from Flag. Please note this is not a refund but just getting money back that I had on account. Most on account for future services, some accomodations AND money from unused hours in folder. I remember I had just broken into an intensive. I got the money for around 11.5 hours in my folder, too! From the date of my first letter to them until I got the check was 30 days total.

Special thanks goes to ImOut for the basic format of the letters and assistance. She sent me the letters they used, and I basically just plugged in my info. Also, GoodTwin provided help with my cycle.

I am no expert on how to get refunds. I don't know why this letter/format worked - but it did work. No, they did not take out any admin fees (2% I think) but I heard they can do that.

I did sign the "Release, Waiver and Writ of Expulsion form for the Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization, Inc." Basically, a standard release form. They wanted it notarized so I did. If you don't want to sign the waiver; well good luck with that. I didn't mind signing it.

I never did contact my attorney.

I sent the first letter to "attn. Treasury" to the address below. Then I got a reply from Flag's legal director, Sarah Heller. You know, if Flag would only deliver services as quickly as this refund, they might not have to give out so many refunds. As you can tell by her replies, she was very, very nice. I wonder if she's a candidate to become an ex-Scientologist soon! Sarah, please PM me if you read this and want out of the SO!

Oh, make sure you send your letters to Flag using priority mail with delivery confirmation - if you send it certified, they will refuse it. Here is a cut/paste of my letters to them:

Church of Scientology
Flag Service Org
503 Cleveland Street
Clearwater, FL 33755
Attn. Treasury

Re: Full Refund of all Moneys on Account, $X.XX for Tookmeawhile

Attn: Treasury

I hereby demand a full repayment of all funds currently on account. Within the Church this is commonly referred to as ?Advanced Payments?. I have decided to forego all future participation in the Church of Scientology and therefore will never use any money on account for future services. This letter shall serve as proof that I am leaving the Church of Scientology.

This demand includes, but is not limited to: money on account for counseling, money on account for training, money on account for books and other materials, money on account for accommodations as well as money which has been debited and currently held in my counseling folders as unused hours.

This breaks down as followed:

$ X.XX on service account towards future services.

$ X.XX unused hours in my counseling folders.

$ X.XX on account toward accommodations.

A quick and full refund is expected within 7 days of receipt of this letter. This demand is in accordance with existing Church Policy, the same Policy that was quoted to the IRS when the Church of Scientology was granted tax-exempt status. This Policy is commonly referred to as ?Fair Use?.

Failure to comply with this demand will result in legal action by my attorney.

And a sample letter to get a refund from
the IAS (International association of Scientologists).

Get in quick.
Or wait in line at the bankruptcy courts.

10 September 2008

US IAS Members Trust
International Association of Scientologists
1311 N. New Hampshire
Los Angeles, CA 90027

RE: Refund of $5500 to Tookmeawhile

IAS,

My name is Tookmeawhile. I am a lifetime member of the IAS along with Roxann Richards. I hereby officially request a full refund on behalf of myself and Roxann and to cancel our memberships immediately. I paid in full to the IAS on my behalf and my spouse, $5500 US. I understand refunds are not normally paid but due to mitigating circumstances I believe it is in everyone?s best interest to return all monies paid in full and end cycle for myself and Roxann with Scientology and the International Association of Scientologists.

Recently, some information and evidence has been obtained by myself. Roxann was kidnapped for some months in 1986 by Scientologists to do the Introspection Rundown in the Los Angeles area. She was tricked and kidnapped, drugged and imprisoned in a farmhouse in Lancaster, CA, a house on 18th St in Santa Monica, CA, and a house in Malibu, CA. She was held against her will by, but not inclusive, the following: XXXXXX, XXXXXX, XXXXXX, XXXXXX, XXXXXX, XXXXXX, XXXXXX. Roxann was given several legal and illegal drugs, without her consent, by Megan Shields [My Disclaimer: I have no direct proof of any illegal drugs given by Megan Shields so this is not being stated as fact; consider this not true and only opinion. If someone has proof please PM me! Roxann, some time after this occurred, sent Megan Shields a letter requesting a list of the drugs she took and Megan Shields never replied.] Dr. Denk was also a consulting physician who never physically saw Roxann. Roxann has memory loss of that time due to the drugs forcibly given to her at the time. I do have signed statements and supporting documentation from several witnesses made at the time. Roxann suffered severe cuts after she attempted to escape her captives by jumping through a glass window on the second floor. She was in need of medical attention for infections from deep cuts from the glass and was dangerous to self and others. However, she was not allowed to seek medical attention until she had been retrieved by family members after they notified the police of her abduction. This predates the Lisa McPherson case by several years.

Not aware of the above, in 2003, Roxann went to AOLA with my check for over $38,000 to begin a clean up program. She had been given C/S okay (documentation can be provided) to receive auditing (progress program) ? Roxann is OTIII ? OT VII expanded. However, according to the OSA WUS Security Chief, Beth McKinley, Roxann was never going to be eligible to receive auditing again through the Church of Scientology. It was all a trick to get our $38,000. Due to the stress, restimulation and interrogation while being held against her will in August 2003 by OSA and RTC, Roxann had a nervous breakdown. Per OSA (Beth McKinley) instructions, Roxann was escorted away from the Orgs and encouraged not to seek medical assistance.

Eventually, Doctor XXXXXXX was sent by OSA and prescribed Roxann mild sedatives in San Jose, CA. This is indicative, in my opinion, of an incorrect diagnosis. Roxann continued to be a danger to herself and others and subsequently ended up in a mental hospital.

It appears the IAS is an advocate of, and not only condones but supports, these types of activities.

After getting her life somewhat back in order, Roxann got into a horrific car accident in January 2005. She had serious injuries, including brain damage. While being transported the following month from one rehab hospital to another, a Suppressive Person Declaration was issued. Beth McKinley told me, ?Roxann is PTS to herself and needs to be Declared?. This being done after I told Beth she suffered brain damage. Currently, Roxann is under the care of family members in Arizona with permanent brain damage. She will never be in a condition to do steps A to E, if she so desired ? which she doesn?t, due to permanent medical disabilities.

I, myself, Tookmeawhile have requested and received full repayments of unused services from Flag and repayment/refund from Dallas Org. Roxann has obtained refund from the Dallas Org.

Therefore, we can not receive any perceived benefits from the IAS. Nor did Roxann ever receive Impact Magazine and I stopped getting them years ago ? perhaps I was deadfiled? The monies paid to IAS were not used in a manner described to us at the time our money was ?donated?. Documentation of these claims are all over the internet ? in court documents, video?s and various reports, including but not limited to claims by Greg and Debra Barnes who received full repayment from the IAS of over $40,000.

I paid for three annual memberships, $300 each, and my lifetime at $2000 for myself and two annual memberships, $300 each, and Roxann?s lifetime membership at $2000.
This adds up to $5,500. All of this money was obtained under false pretenses by IAS representatives.

My lifetime membership number is 1216703500046073, issued 27 Jan. 92 ? Tookmeawhile.

We never did receive Roxann?s lifetime membership card even after numerous attempts to obtain it. Here is the membership number off of one of her annual cards 1112202500012296, expired 27 Jun 95 ? Roxann Richards. I do have the credit card statement showing the $2000 ?donation? transaction was made to the IAS and posted on 26 Feb 98 for her membership. I can supply a copy of the bank statement if required. Yes, I have safely kept most records of every type since 1983.

Please note that any and all statements, inferences, claims and opinions in this letter are just that; my opinions. I do, however, have a lot of documented evidence supporting such opinions. I have several copies, including originals, with trusted terminals around the United States.

Roxann had signed many waivers in 2003 with OSA, RTC and other legal representatives of the Church of Scientology. I will sign a waiver stating I will discharge the IAS from any and all claims, etc. when the full refund is issued for $5500 to myself, Tookmeawhile, by the IAS. I would expect to hear back from you, with a waiver and refund, no later than 25 September 2008.

Any questions, please contact me immediately.

Thank you,

Tookmeawhile
